Instead of a Double Elimination Group Phase, a Round Robin will be played this year. The playoffs will then be changed from single to double elimination. At the same time one of the biggest CS:GO tournaments of the year, the IEM Major Katowice, will take place in the same city, whereby only the playoffs will be played in the Spodek Arena. We report for you about the ESL One Katowice 2019 – we have all odds for all matches.

Winners Odds ESL One Katowice 2019

Team Secret goes as a very big favorit into the ESL One Katowice, the victory rate is at 1.55. Behind them follow Fnatic (7.75), Ninjas in Pyjamas (10.25) and OG (13.75). An outsider win could be good odds, but who will take the title?

Format + Teams

12 teams will compete at the ESL One Katowice 2019. The start will be with a group stage, where there will be two preliminary round pools of 6 teams each. There a Round-Robin will be played (Bo2), afterwards the last two teams per group will leave the tournament. The best 8 teams will be promoted to the Double-Elimination Playoffs (Bo3). The grand final on 24 February 2019 will then be decided in best-of-five mode.

8 teams were invited to the tournament by direct invitation, Europe, North America, China and Southeast Asia each have a qualification place. With EHOME there is already a tournament winner from this year at the start, the team could win the Bucharest Minor (and thus qualify for the Dota 2 Chongqing Major). All participants for the Dota 2 tournament have already been determined:

  • Team Secret
  • Ninjas in pyjamas
  • UPPER FLOOR
  • Chaos Esports Club
  • Fnatic
  • alliance
  • Team Aster
  • forward gaming
  • Gambit Esports
  • compLexity Gaming

The participants have changed a bit shortly before the start of the tournament. PaiN Gaming now runs under the name Chaos Esports Club, EHOME is playing at the MDL Macau and can not play in Katowice. Mineski replaces TNC Predator, who cannot participate in the tournament due to time and visa reasons.

Prize money

The big prize money from last year’s Major unfortunately doesn’t exist in 2019. There is $300,000 for all participating teams, for the winner there is a check in the amount of $125,000. None of the 12 participants will go away empty-handed, even on the back seats there will be a consolation prize in the amount of $3,000. Since the ESL One Katowice is not part of the Dota Pro Circuit 2019, there are no DPC points for the teams. This is how the prize pool is distributed in detail:
